Jharsuguda, Odisha : A district-level POSH Act 2013 training program on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act was held at the District Mineral Foundation Auditorium in Jharsuguda. The initiative aimed to raise awareness on preventing workplace sexual harassment and strengthening Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) across institutions.
The program was inaugurated by District Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan through the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Delivering the welcome note, District Social Welfare Officer Punyabati Helen Khese emphasized the importance of awareness and compliance with the POSH Act. Addressing the gathering, the Collector explained a Sanskrit verse highlighting that divinity resides where women are respected. He urged all participants to ensure safe and respectful workplaces for women.
The training was organized by the District Social Welfare Office, with participation from over 180 members of Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) across government and private institutions, including Presiding Officers, Nodal Officers, and other representatives.
Additional District Magistrate Victoria Ekka, DSP Manda Hansda, and Sehada NGO President Anandini Padhi attended the program as resource persons. The sessions covered provisions of the POSH Act, rules for institutional registration, roles of ICCs and Local Complaints Committees (LCCs), and practical guidelines for redressal mechanisms.
An interactive Q&A session allowed participants to raise workplace concerns. Program coordination was supported by officials including Security and Program Officer Yajnaseni Mahananda and Lileswar Sahu.
The initiative marks an important step toward strengthening gender equity and ensuring safer work environments in Jharsuguda district.
