Jharsuguda, Odisha : A district-level POSH Act 2013 training program on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act took place at the District Mineral Foundation Auditorium in Jharsuguda. The initiative aimed to raise awareness on preventing workplace sexual harassment and strengthening Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) across institutions.
District Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan inaugurated the program by lighting the ceremonial lamp. District Social Welfare Officer Punyabati Helen Khese delivered the welcome note and emphasized the importance of awareness and compliance with the POSH Act. Addressing the gathering, the Collector explained a Sanskrit verse that highlighted divinity resides where women are respected. He urged all participants to ensure safe and respectful workplaces for women.
The District Social Welfare Office organized the training, which brought together more than 180 members of Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) across government and private institutions, including Presiding Officers, Nodal Officers, and other representatives.
Additional District Magistrate Victoria Ekka, DSP Manda Hansda, and Sehada NGO President Anandini Padhi joined the program as resource persons. They led sessions on provisions of the POSH Act, institutional registration rules, roles of ICCs and Local Complaints Committees (LCCs), and practical guidelines for redressal mechanisms.
An interactive Q&A session gave participants the chance to raise workplace concerns. Officials including Security and Program Officer Yajnaseni Mahananda and Lileswar Sahu coordinated the program smoothly.
This initiative represents a significant step toward strengthening gender equity and ensuring safer work environments in Jharsuguda district.
