New Delhi : Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will visit Gaya, Bihar, on 22nd August, to inaugurate and lay the foundation for multiple development projects worth around Rs 13,000 crore. These projects span key sectors including power, roads, health, urban development, and water supply, reflecting the government’s focus on modern infrastructure and regional growth.
In line with his commitment to enhancing connectivity, PM Modi will inaugurate the 8.15 km Aunta–Simaria Bridge on NH-31, which includes a 1.86 km six-lane bridge over the River Ganga. Constructed parallel to the old and dilapidated Rajendra Setu, the new bridge will cut over 100 km detour for heavy vehicles traveling between North and South Bihar and reduce traffic congestion. It will also improve access to the famous pilgrimage site Simaria Dham and boost economic activity in adjoining regions dependent on raw materials from South Bihar and Jharkhand.
The PM will also inaugurate the four-lane Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama section of NH-31 and upgrade the Bikramganj–Dawath–Nawanagar–Dumraon NH-120 section, improving rural connectivity and providing new economic opportunities.
In the power sector, he will inaugurate the Buxar Thermal Power Plant (660 MW), enhancing energy security and meeting growing electricity demand. In health, the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre at Muzaffarpur will provide advanced oncology services, including OPDs, IPDs, operation theatres, and ICU/HDU facilities, reducing the need for patients to travel to distant metros.
Under Namami Gange, PM will inaugurate Sewerage Treatment Plants (STPs) and sewerage networks at Munger and lay the foundation for water and sanitation projects at Daudnagar, Jehanabad, Barahiya, and Jamui under AMRUT 2.0, improving access to clean drinking water and modern sanitation.
For rail connectivity, the PM will flag off the Amrit Bharat Express (Gaya–Delhi) and the Buddhist Circuit Train (Vaishali–Koderma), boosting tourism and passenger convenience. A Grih Pravesh ceremony under PMAY-Gramin and PMAY-Urban will hand over keys to thousands of beneficiaries, fulfilling their dream of owning a home.
