New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on an official visit to Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Thursday, September 11, the government announced.
At around 11:30 a.m. in Varanasi, PM Modi will host Mauritian Prime Minister Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, who is on a state visit to India from September 9–16.
The Varanasi summit will underscore the civilisational connect, spiritual ties, and enduring people-to-people bonds that shape the special India–Mauritius relationship. Both leaders are set to review the full spectrum of cooperation, focusing on development partnership, capacity building, healthcare, education, energy, and infrastructure. Special attention will be given to renewable energy, digital public infrastructure, and the blue economy.
The talks will build on the momentum of PM Modi’s state visit to Mauritius in March, when both nations upgraded their ties to an “Enhanced Strategic Partnership.” As a maritime neighbour and key partner in the Indian Ocean Region, Mauritius plays an important role in India’s MAHASAGAR Vision (Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Region) and the Neighbourhood First policy.
Officials note that the partnership also reflects the shared aspirations of the Global South. The Varanasi meet is expected to be a milestone in advancing mutual prosperity, sustainable growth, and regional security.
Later in the day, PM Modi will travel to Dehradun. At 4:15 p.m., he will conduct an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Uttarakhand to assess the damage. By 5 p.m., he will chair a high-level review meeting with state and central officials to take stock of relief and rehabilitation measures.
