New Delhi  : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended heartfelt wishes to the people of Western Odisha on the occasion of Nuakhai, the region’s most popular agrarian festival.

Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi wrote: “Best wishes to everyone on the occasion of Nuakhai. This festival reminds us of our deep gratitude towards farmers, whose hard work ensures the sustenance of us all. May every home be blessed with good health, prosperity, and happiness. Nuakhai Juhar!”

Nuakhai, considered the mass festival of Western Odisha, holds special cultural and emotional significance for the people of the region. It is celebrated by offering the first harvested grains to deities and then sharing them among family members, symbolizing prosperity and togetherness.

By highlighting the hard work of farmers, the Prime Minister emphasized their invaluable contribution to society and acknowledged their role as the backbone of the nation. His greetings added to the festive spirit in districts such as Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Kalahandi, and Nuapada, where people celebrated Nuakhai with traditional rituals, cultural performances, and community feasts.

The Prime Minister’s warm wishes have been widely welcomed across Odisha, strengthening the festive cheer of Nuakhai celebrations.
