Dhenkanal, Odisha : What began as a routine journey from Parjang to Bhubaneswar turned into a nightmare when a private passenger bus lost control and toppled into the Rengali branch canal near Kantiokateni, under Kamakhyanagar–Tumusingha police limits.
The accident, which occurred while carrying over 50 passengers, left more than 20 people grievously injured. Eyewitnesses say the bus swerved onto the canal-side route due to road construction on the main Parjang–Pandua PWD road, but lost balance and overturned.
Kamakhyanagar Fire Service personnel, aided by locals, rushed to the scene, pulling injured passengers to safety. Victims suffered severe head injuries, broken limbs, and deep wounds, with the most critical rushed by ambulance to the Anlabereni Community Health Centre.
