Jharsuguda, Odisha : Today 34,498 beneficiaries in Jharsuguda district have received financial assistance under the 20th installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi Yojana. The event, marked as PM-KISAN Diwas, was held at the Jharsuguda Government Polytechnic Auditorium with local MLA Tankadhar Tripathy as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Tripathy reaffirmed the state and central governments’ commitment to doubling farmers’ income, citing the recent increase in Minimum Support Price (MSP) and provision of an input subsidy of ₹800 as proof of this dedication. He stressed that the government is working proactively to fulfill its promises and improve rural livelihoods.
Highlighting ongoing developmental efforts in agriculture, he revealed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared for implementing an integrated irrigation system in the district. Officials have been instructed to conduct block-wise meetings to encourage cultivation of commercial and alternative crops beyond paddy, ensuring diversification in agricultural practices.
The MLA also advised farmers to form group-based initiatives and leverage schemes like Kamadhenu Yojana to engage in livestock rearing, particularly cattle farming, as a sustainable means of income generation.
On this occasion, a live broadcast of the 20th installment transfer ceremony by the Prime Minister was witnessed by attendees. As part of the symbolic gesture, one farmer from each block was handed a dummy cheque of ₹2,000 and a soil health card.
Further enhancing farm mechanization, the Jharsuguda Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) was provided with agricultural equipment, including tractors, rotavators, cultivators, pump sets, power weeders, and power sprayers.
Jharsuguda Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan, present at the event, called upon farmers to embrace modern farming techniques and emphasized that enhancing agricultural productivity is key to doubling their income. He noted that no national development is possible without the upliftment of agriculture and farmers.
