Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) marked its 64th Foundation Day with grandeur, emphasizing innovation, training, and the promotion of agricultural entrepreneurship among students and farmers. The celebration spotlighted OUAT’s transformative role in shaping modern agripreneurs and advancing sustainable agriculture across the state.
Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, attending as chief guest, lauded OUAT’s initiatives in equipping students and farmers with practical knowledge to launch profitable agri-businesses. Highlighting the importance of project profiling, he urged the university to guide aspiring entrepreneurs in evaluating costs, electricity needs, land requirements, expected returns, and subsidy options. “Structured guidance can unlock the true potential of agricultural ventures,” he said, stressing that informed planning inspires confidence and innovation.
The Governor reflected on his visits to various districts, appreciating OUAT’s hands-on training programs at agricultural science centers. He observed that many farmers have already translated knowledge into small-scale commercial initiatives. He emphasized that providing mentorship, resources, and clear pathways can significantly increase engagement in agricultural entrepreneurship, benefiting both rural livelihoods and Odisha’s economy.
Calling agriculture the backbone of India, the Governor added that OUAT helps integrate traditional knowledge with modern techniques, climate resilience strategies, and smart resource management. He also praised OUAT’s leadership as a nodal center for agri-startups, advising 24 state-level ventures on value addition, marketing, and export strategies, thereby creating new opportunities for youth and enhancing Odisha’s presence in global agri-markets.
The event featured the release of new publications, felicitation of distinguished students, farmers, and faculty, and inauguration of smart agriculture technologies, including Wi-Fi-enabled facilities. OUAT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Prabhat Kumar Raul and other dignitaries emphasized the university’s commitment to nurturing talent, fostering innovation, and inspiring the next generation of agricultural entrepreneurs.
With hands-on training, mentorship, and strategic support, OUAT continues to empower young farmers and students, making Odisha a hub of agricultural entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainable growth in India.
