Bhubaneswar , Odisha : The Odisha Works Department will implement AI-based solutions to streamline project management and procurement, announced State Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan. He emphasized that the move will enhance transparency, accelerate decision-making, and improve the efficiency of departmental operations.
The initiative will automate the entire tender management process. By leveraging AI, the department aims to cut tender evaluation time from 2–2.5 months to just one week, enabling faster project execution and quicker delivery of services to the public.
On Monday, Minister Harichandan met a dedicated research team to discuss implementation strategies. The AI software will evaluate submitted bids, compare technical and financial proposals, assess responsiveness, and monitor the tender process in real time. Previously, manual procedures caused delays of 4–5 months between DPR preparation and project execution.
The government will mandate that all external contractors register on a centralized database. Only registered agencies will receive approval to undertake projects in Odisha. Officials are expected to finalize this policy soon.
In addition, the department plans to bring the entire e-procurement process online, promoting transparency. A project monitoring dashboard is also in development, which will provide real-time updates on the progress of infrastructure projects across the state.
Minister Harichandan said these reforms reflect Odisha’s commitment to digital governance and efficient infrastructure development, ensuring that citizens receive timely services while projects meet the highest standards of accountability.
