Odisha Urban Conclave 2025 Unites Visionaries to Shape Future-Ready Cities

Urban leaders, policymakers, and innovators unite in Bhubaneswar to shape a smarter, sustainable, and inclusive future for Odisha’s cities

Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Odisha Urban Conclave 2025, a two-day event by the Housing and Urban Development Department, began in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. The goal is to shape the future of the state’s cities through innovation, teamwork, and sustainability.


The event, held under the theme “Collaborate. Build. Progress.”, supports the vision of a Viksit Odisha by 2036 and a Viksit Bharat by 2047. It brings together city leaders, planners, experts, and officials to share ideas for better urban growth and smarter governance.

Dr. Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Hon’ble Minister for Housing & Urban Development, opened the event. In his speech,

he spoke about the need for strong infrastructure, better public services, and active local bodies. He praised city officials for their efforts in improving civic life and urged them to use data and innovation to solve urban challenges.

Meanwhile, Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, explained Odisha’s long-term urban plans.

She said that citizen participation, teamwork, and digital tools will play a key role in shaping modern and inclusive cities.

Earlier, Arindam Dakua, Director of Municipal Administration, welcomed dignitaries and set the tone for discussions on urban challenges and opportunities.

The conclave features thematic sessions addressing critical areas of urban development, including:

  • Urban Governance & Infrastructure Development : Enhancing institutional capacities and service delivery mechanisms in ULBs.

  • Urban Planning & Mobility : Promoting integrated planning and inclusive transport systems.

  • e-Governance & SAHAJOG : Leveraging digital tools to improve transparency and citizen engagement.

  • Financial Management in ULBs : Strengthening municipal finance and budget accountability.

  • PM SVANidhi & Urban Livelihoods : Expanding opportunities for street vendors and informal sector workers.

  • Urban Housing, Sanitation & Water Supply : Ensuring access to affordable housing and safe drinking water.

Finally, senior officials, engineers, and administrators from all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across Odisha are taking part in the event. The conclave serves as a platform for learning, policy discussions, and partnerships.

Overall, the Odisha Urban Conclave 2025 highlights the state’s commitment to people-first urban development, leading the way for a smarter and greener Odisha.
