Bhubaneswar, Odisha : A 22-member high-level delegation from the Karnataka government recently visited Odisha to study the state’s skill development initiatives. The delegation extensively reviewed training programs provided by the World Skill Center and other vocational institutions, praising Odisha’s remarkable achievements in promoting industry and skill excellence.
The delegation, led by Karnataka’s Higher Education Minister Dr. M.C. Sudhakar and Minister of Medical Education, Skill Development, and Livelihood Dr. Sharan Prakash R. Patil, interacted with Odisha’s Minister of Industry, Skill Development, and Vocational Education, Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, at Kharavel Bhawan today. The discussions focused on Odisha’s successful implementation of innovative training and skill development programs and explored ways such initiatives could be adapted in Karnataka.
Shri Swain highlighted that the delegation’s visit reflects the effectiveness of Odisha’s robust and skill-oriented ecosystem, emphasizing continuous efforts to strengthen vocational and industrial training. Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi’s commitment to skill development initiatives was also noted as a key driver for producing a highly competent workforce capable of meeting global industry standards.
Officials from various industry and training institutions in Odisha participated in the discussions, showcasing the positive impact of high-quality training programs on students and trainees. The delegation was particularly impressed by the integration of modern skill development practices that prepare the youth for global competitions and enhance employability.
Shri Swain emphasized that Odisha’s vision includes creating a strong and sustainable skill ecosystem, inspiring other states to replicate similar models. By equipping young talent with advanced skills, Odisha ensures the growth of a capable workforce while promoting innovation and industry collaboration.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Skill Development and Vocational Training Department, including Commissioner and Secretary Shri Bhupendra Singh Punia, Director of Skill Development and Employment Sushri Rashmita Panda, and Director of Vocational Education Shri Chakraborty Singh Rathore.
The Karnataka delegation praised Odisha’s approach to vocational education and skill development, highlighting the successful implementation of training initiatives and the creation of a highly skilled workforce capable of contributing to the state’s industrial and economic growth.
