Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo chaired a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan today to expedite the construction and operationalization of cold storage facilities across the state.
Emphasizing that a strong agricultural infrastructure is key to empowering farmers, the Deputy Chief Minister urged departmental officials to work with urgency and precision. Given the pressing need for cold storages and warehouses in Odisha, he directed that the projects be executed at the earliest.
The government has already approved the construction of at least one cold storage in every sub-division, with several organizations having submitted applications. Initial procedures have begun, and the meeting resolved to make them functional without delay.
The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the status of fertilizer supply, stressing the need to curb black marketing, and discussed future strategies and action plans for the department.
