Bhubaneswar, Odisha : At Jayadev Bhawan, Odisha observed the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, organized by the Indian Historical Compilation Committee, with the Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi addressing the gathering. Highlighting the enduring lessons of partition, the Chief Minister stressed that while the event caused immense suffering, it never broke Indian nationalism.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said, “Partition was not merely a geographic event but a humanitarian calamity. It inflicted pain yet taught invaluable lessons about resilience and the spirit of survival. We must remember history and learn from it to navigate the future wisely.”

The Chief Minister called upon the new generation of India and Odisha to internalize these lessons, uphold the nation’s sovereignty, and remain vigilant in protecting cultural unity. “History serves as a mirror. By reflecting on it, we can avoid repeating mistakes. Partition is a painful reality, but remembering and learning from it ensures a stronger, united future,” he added.

He emphasized that India’s ancient and historical culture forms the foundation of national identity, unity, and thought. Preserving this heritage is essential, and the youth must be prepared to defend it with awareness and responsibility. Recalling a previous address at Raj Bhawan, he stated, “Boundaries on maps may change, but the unity of hearts cannot be broken. Indians have always prioritized brotherhood, love, and mutual respect above all else.”

The event was attended by eminent personalities, including Shri Saroj Kumar Mitra, Vice-Chancellor of Vedic University, Tamil Nadu; Professor Dr. Harihar Kanungo, National Liaison Head of the All India Historical Compilation Plan; Shri Kamalesh Das from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Odisha East; Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra, President of Indian Historical Compilation Committee, Odisha East; and Professor Bikram Kesari Mahapatra.

Through this commemoration, Odisha continues to honor the memory of partition’s tragic past while inspiring future generations to uphold unity, cultural heritage, and national integrity. The event reinforced the importance of learning from history to build a peaceful and resilient society.
