Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Dr. Krushna Chandra Mohapatra, Minister of Housing & Urban Development (H&UD), Government of Odisha, reviewed the Department’s activities today at Kharavela Bhawan. Senior officials including Special Secretary Rajesh Pravakar Patil, Special Secretary Gangadhar Naik, Director of Municipal Administration Arindam Dakua, Additional Secretaries, and officers from BDA and BMC joined the meeting.
Dr. Mohapatra directed officials to fast-track planned initiatives and complete them within fixed deadlines. He stressed that timely execution, accountability, and measurable results must remain the focus of every project.
The Minister placed strong emphasis on strengthening manpower across Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). He instructed every ULB to appoint at least one Junior Engineer or Assistant Engineer to ensure effective project monitoring and smooth delivery of essential services. “Citizens’ welfare is our foremost priority. We must guarantee uninterrupted access to basic amenities while creating sustainable and inclusive cities,” he said.
Outlining his vision for future urban development in Odisha, Dr. Mohapatra highlighted three core priorities:

Planned city growth to handle rapid urbanization.

Greener and cleaner spaces to support healthy living and environmental balance.

Robust service delivery systems to enhance the quality of life in towns and cities.
He urged officials to adopt innovative approaches and work in close coordination with ULBs to achieve these goals. He also underlined that people must remain at the center of urban growth, ensuring alignment with Odisha’s broader development vision.
The review meeting took place at the 3rd Floor Conference Hall of Kharavela Bhawan, where the Minister called for stronger collaboration to accelerate Odisha’s urban transformation journey.
