Balasore, Odisha : Sri Kumuda Chandra Pradhan, former Assistant Engineer (Estimator) in the Office of the Executive Engineer, Lift Irrigation Division, Balasore, has been convicted in a bribery case by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance Court, Balasore.
According to Odisha Vigilance, Pradhan, who had retired from service, was charge-sheeted under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. He was found guilty of demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 from a contractor for processing agreement papers related to the issuance of a work order.
The court sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹50,000.
Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance has announced that it will move the competent authority to stop Pradhan’s pension benefits in line with the law.
