Koraput, Odisha : Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati arrived in Koraput district today as part of his official visit. Upon arrival at Jeypore Airport, the Governor was welcomed by Koraput District Collector Manoj Satyawan Mahajan, SP Rohit Verma, and Deputy Collector Jaypore Akkavaram Shashya Reddy.
The Governor proceeded to the Koraput Coffee Board, where he met with local coffee farmers to discuss cultivation, marketing strategies, and methods to expand Koraput coffee’s reach nationally and internationally. Recognized globally, Koraput coffee now occupies nearly 90% of the coffee cultivation area in the district, making local tribal farmers self-reliant through coffee production.
Dr. Kambhampati visited coffee plantations, observed coffee trees, and tasted the locally grown coffee, praising its flavor and quality. He also engaged with officials at the Koraput Coffee Board to discuss ways to promote the district’s coffee in wider markets.
The Governor then visited the Koraput Independent Circuit House to meet officials from NALCO, inquiring about the transformation of NALCO’s Navratna project into a Maharatna status and evaluating its impact on local and surrounding areas.
He also held discussions with administrators of Sahid Laxman Nayak Veterinary College regarding healthcare services and infrastructure development, emphasizing the need to strengthen the foundation and provide top-quality healthcare to the district.
Later, Dr. Kambhampati met with Kotpad officials, including Seed Officer Harshita Priyadarshini Mahanti and Padma Shri awardee Gobardhan Panika, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Finance and the Indian Red Cross Society, to discuss administrative and social welfare initiatives.
In the evening, the Governor visited the Shabar Sri Kshetra Jagannath Temple in Koraput, performed rituals, and completed the temple circumambulation. Local legislators, including Koraput MLA Raghuram Machha and Kotpad MLA Rupu Bhatra, along with Additional District Collector Tapan Kumar Nayak, senior officials of the Coffee Board, and other administrative officers, accompanied him during the visit.
During the visit, Dr. Kambhampati appreciated the efforts of tribal farmers in making Koraput coffee a brand of excellence. He stressed the importance of linking agricultural success with local development, infrastructure, and healthcare services to improve the overall standard of living in the district.3
