Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati emphasized the life-saving and unifying power of blood donation, stating that a single drop of blood not only saves an unknown person’s life but also strengthens the bonds of society. Blood donation brings people together as one family, fostering solidarity and compassion.
The Governor attended a mega blood donation campaign organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad at the SCS Autonomous College in Puri. He described this initiative as “a great act of service to humanity,” highlighting its impact beyond conventional medical campaigns. He noted that the drive coincided with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, celebrated nationwide as a service fortnight reflecting ideals of sacrifice, service, and welfare.
During the event, Governor Kambhampati interacted with donors, appreciating their selfless contributions. He commended the Terapanth Yuvak Parishad for setting an ambitious target to collect nearly five lakh units of blood, calling it a historic step and a lasting symbol of humanitarian ideals.
The Governor stressed that each unit of blood can save the lives of patients undergoing surgery, accident victims, mothers during childbirth, children suffering from diseases, or patients with cancer and anemia. “At this critical moment, technology or wealth alone cannot save lives, but the silent compassion of an anonymous donor does,” he said. He also advised women and mothers to consume proper nutrition to prevent anemia and enable safe blood donation.
Recalling Odisha’s tradition of service and spirituality, the Governor cited the phrase “Paropakaraaya Idam Shareeram”, highlighting that institutions like this aim to serve society. He encouraged the younger generation to acknowledge that one unit of blood can save up to three lives, making every donor a silent hero.
The event also witnessed participation from Puri MP Dr. Sambit Patra, Pipili MLA Ashrita Pattanayak, and SCS College Principal Chitaranjan Dwivedi, who praised the donors and encouraged others to contribute. Terapanth Yuvak Parishad President Jitendra Baid welcomed the attendees, while the chief coordinator of the mega blood donation drive, Siddharth Choraria, managed the session and extended gratitude to all contributors.
