Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The government conducted a preemptive meeting to ensure full readiness for Odisha Government Cyclone Preparedness. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Shri Suresh Pujari, along with Independent Relief Commissioner Shri Deoranjan Kumar Singh, discussed all pre-cyclone arrangements in detail with District Collectors of potentially affected districts.
After the meeting, Minister Shri Pujari addressed media at Rajiv Bhavan. He said that
according to the Bhubaneswar regional office of the Indian Meteorological Department, the cyclone has entered deep depression. Its intensity may increase, yet its path remains unclear. Officials expect strong rainfall in southern Odisha and coastal Odisha between October 27, 28, and 29. Authorities anticipate fifteen districts to face possible impacts. Based on past experiences and current observations, the government has taken all precautionary measures.
Minister Shri Pujari stated that NDRF, ODRAF, and Fire Services remain alert. The government coordinates with Agriculture, Water Resources, Energy, Panchayati Raj, Health, Cooperative, Rural Development, and Animal Husbandry departments to maintain full readiness. Officials have identified low-lying and flood-prone areas. They have prepared cyclone shelters with food, drinking water, fodder, and essential medicines. Authorities will shift people to these shelters if necessary.
Minister Shri Pujari added that the government focuses independently on protecting lives and property. Officials also maintain vigilance over landslides and urban flooding. They promptly compensated citizens for earlier damages caused by unseasonal rains. He urged the public to stay calm and maintain regular contact with authorities.
Independent Relief Commissioner Shri Singh emphasized that citizens should follow cyclone-related updates issued by the government. He requested everyone not to panic unnecessarily and confirmed that the government continues providing continuous information regarding Odisha Government Cyclone Preparedness.
