Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Odisha Cooperative Minister, Shri Pradip Bal Samant, today chaired a high-level review meeting at Lokseva Bhawan to assess the availability and distribution of fertilizers across the state. The focus of the meeting was to ensure streamlined and uninterrupted supply of fertilizers to farmers during the ongoing Kharif season.
According to information presented during the review, a total of 80,014 metric tons of urea will be supplied to farmers across Odisha in September 2025. The distribution will be carried out exclusively through MARKFED via PACS and LAMPS, ensuring that 100% of the urea reaches farmers directly. This centralized channelization is aimed at eliminating middlemen and preventing shortages.
The Minister emphasized that the state government has prioritized a structured and transparent fertilizer distribution system so that no farmer faces difficulties in obtaining urea. He also directed officials to strengthen monitoring and coordination at all levels.
In preparation for the upcoming Kharif season, the Minister instructed MARKFED to enhance the storage capacity of its warehouses and maintain sufficient advance stock. PACS and LAMPS have been asked to submit requirements in advance so that the stock can be allocated and stored accordingly.
The Minister further advised that fertilizer availability at local PACS and LAMPS must be reviewed continuously and timely replenishment ensured. He reiterated that the government is committed to making fertilizers accessible at affordable and fixed rates to safeguard the interests of farmers.
The review meeting was attended by Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Cooperative Department, Shubham Saxena, Director of Agriculture, Santosh Kumar Nayak, Managing Director of MARKFED, along with senior departmental officials.
