Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Odisha Excise crackdown has yielded significant results, with 902 cases detected, 511 arrests made, and seizures worth ₹3.91 Crore in just four days from 1st to 4th September 2025, highlighting the department’s firm stance against illicit liquor and narcotics.
During the intensified drive, excise teams operated round-the-clock across Odisha, ensuring swift action against illegal liquor and drug networks. Officials registered 29 NDPS cases, resulting in the seizure of 320 Kg of Ganja and 560 grams of Brown Sugar, demonstrating the effectiveness of coordinated enforcement efforts.
On 4th September alone, 254 cases were detected, 148 arrests were made, and contraband worth ₹1.39 Crore was seized. The recoveries included 84 Kg of Ganja, 194 grams of Brown Sugar, 13 Kg of Bhanga, 840 Kg of Mohua Flower, and 22 vehicles across various categories.
A significant breakthrough came from the Flying Squad, which seized 194 grams of Brown Sugar worth ₹20.4 Lakh in a single operation, underscoring the department’s determination to dismantle narcotics networks.
The Excise Department reiterated its zero-tolerance approach, emphasizing strict enforcement to safeguard public health and safety. Officials confirmed that the crackdown will continue in a sustained effort to curb illegal liquor and narcotics distribution across the state.
