Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Odisha Excise Department’s ongoing Enforcement Special Drive entered its eighth day on Monday, registering significant gains against illicit liquor and narcotics networks across the State.
Officials reported contraband worth ₹1.21 crore seized in coordinated raids. During the operations, the Department registered 258 cases and arrested 147 individuals linked to illegal trade.
Major seizures included 10,362 bulk litres (BL) of illicitly distilled liquor, 471 BL of duty-paid liquor, and nearly 1,00,060 litres of wash, a key ingredient used in illegal liquor production. The drive also netted 7,294 kilograms of Mohua flower, 24 kilograms of Bhang, and 13 vehicles.
In a parallel crackdown under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, officials filed eight cases and seized nearly 347 kilograms of ganja.
Enforcement teams emphasized that the operations form part of the Department’s Zero Tolerance Policy against illicit liquor and drug trafficking. The intensified drive targets networks involved in illegal supply chains while ensuring strict compliance with excise and narcotics laws.
The Odisha Excise Department assured that the enforcement action will continue with the same intensity in the coming days, reinforcing the State’s broader goal of achieving a liquor- and drug-free Odisha.
