Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Odisha DGP felicitates police athletes who brought laurels to the state and the nation on the occasion of National Sports Day 2025. Director General of Police, Arun Kumar Sarangi, honored 41 outstanding police athletes in a special ceremony held at the Police Headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
The program was organized to recognize the contribution of police personnel in sports, especially those who have represented Odisha and India at various state, national, and international levels. Speaking at the event, the Odisha DGP emphasized that sports not only foster discipline and fitness among police personnel but also enhance the pride of the force.
“Odisha Police has always been at the forefront of sports promotion. Our athletes inspire young officers and bring great honor to the state,” said DGP Sarangi.
The 41 police athletes felicitated on the occasion excelled in multiple disciplines, including athletics, hockey, weightlifting, archery, and shooting. Several among them have represented India in prestigious international tournaments.
The DGP also highlighted Odisha’s growing reputation as a sports hub of India, crediting Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s initiatives in promoting hockey and other sports at the grassroots level. He assured that the police department would continue to provide encouragement and facilities to its athletes.
The event concluded with a pledge to further strengthen Odisha Police’s contribution to Indian sports and ensure that more officers participate and excel in upcoming national and international championships.
