Bhubaneswar/Jeypore : Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday lauded the ‘Subhadra Yojana’ as a transformative force in women’s empowerment, fostering entrepreneurship and financial self-reliance. At a mega event in Jeypore, he disbursed the third installment of the scheme to 1,783 Kotia GP beneficiaries via direct bank transfer.
The CM also launched a massive ₹762 crore development drive in Koraput, laying the foundation for 436 projects worth over ₹452 crore and inaugurating 126 new works worth ₹309.42 crore. These projects span education, healthcare, road and bridge infrastructure, and tourism.
Making key announcements, Majhi revealed that Vande Bharat Express will soon connect Jeypore with Bhubaneswar, the defunct Jeypore paper mill will be revived, and a new college will be established in the region. He stressed that women empowerment is not a political slogan but a mission, citing initiatives like Subhadra Plus, Subhadra Kishori, Subhadra Suraksha, and Subhadra Sakhi.
Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo highlighted the scheme’s role in enabling women to start and expand businesses, while Deputy CM Pravati Parida said it bridges gaps in skills, education, and employment. Beneficiaries from Kotia, who had earlier received the first two installments, expressed gratitude for the continued support.
The event also saw felicitation of women who have excelled through Subhadra Yojana. Ministers Nityananda Gond, Gokulananda Mallik, Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak, and senior officials joined the occasion, marking a significant step in Odisha’s women empowerment and regional development agenda.
