With low-pressure system forming over Bay of Bengal, Odisha CM Mahan Charan Majhi assessed flood preparedness with Collectors of 17 districts.
According to the India Meteorological Department, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Kalahandi are expected to be severely impacted, while 14 other districts, including Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Puri, Khordha, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara have been issued alerts.

The Chief Minister directed all district and block-level control rooms to operate round-the-clock and update data regularly. He emphasised proactive measures such as:
- Monitoring weak river and canal embankments
- Deploying ODRAF and Fire Services units in vulnerable zones
- Ensuring drainage engineers and machinery are on standby
- Preparing urban bodies for waterlogging and evacuation
- Stockpiling essential supplies including food, medicines, and livestock feed
- Activating multipurpose flood shelters with cooked food arrangements
- Identifying landslide-prone areas, especially in hilly regions like Malkangiri

Senior ministers, including the Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, and Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Nayak, joined the review, alongside top officials from police, disaster management, and meteorology departments.
The CM reiterated Odisha’s national recognition in disaster management and expressed confidence in the state’s ability to handle the situation effectively.
