Bhubaneswar, Odisha : On the occasion of 78th Independence Day, Odisha Chief Minister extended heartfelt greetings to the people of the state and Indians worldwide. Reflecting on the country’s rich history, the CM emphasized that India’s freedom struggle was unique, largely peaceful, and led by visionaries such as Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Bhagat Singh. The sacrifices of countless unnamed patriots were also acknowledged with deep respect.
The CM paid tribute to Odisha’s freedom fighters, including Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das, Madhusudan Das, Laxman Nayak, and Biju Patnaik, whose courage and commitment played a pivotal role in the national movement. He also remembered the Paik Rebellion of 1817, which predated the 1857 Sepoy Mutiny, highlighting Odisha’s historical contribution to India’s fight for independence.
Addressing national security, the CM underscored India’s strong stance against terrorism and recent counter-terror operations, praising the Indian Army’s bravery and technological prowess, particularly during Operation Sindhu, which demonstrated the success of India’s defense and domestic manufacturing initiatives.
The CM also reflected on India’s progress since independence, noting economic growth, foreign policy autonomy, and social development, with a special emphasis on initiatives like “Swachh Bharat” and citizen-centered development. He highlighted the transformative impact of government schemes, which have improved sanitation and accessibility across the nation within just a few years.
Emphasizing self-reliance and local empowerment, the CM encouraged citizens to actively participate in India’s journey toward a self-sufficient economy. He echoed the Prime Minister’s call for “Vocal for Local”, urging communities to prioritize locally-produced goods and contribute to the national development agenda.
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister reminded citizens that Independence Day is not just a symbolic celebration but a moment to reflect on sacrifices, uphold national unity, and work collectively for India’s progress and security.
