A total of 911 new firefighters joined the Odisha Fire Services, with the remaining 300 vacancies expected to be filled by December 2025.
Addressing the trainees, the Chief Minister emphasized that firefighters are the first responders during emergencies, reaching victims before any other assistance. He highlighted the hard work and dedication required in fire service, urging both new and existing personnel to maintain peak physical fitness and vigilance at all times.
In the past year alone, the Odisha Fire Services have achieved remarkable milestones, saving 7,599 human lives and rescuing over 17,000 animals in emergencies across the state. Additionally, a national-level water rescue and life-saving training centre and a world-class scuba diving training facility are being established at Ramchandi near Konark. These centres will provide comprehensive training to firefighters, police personnel, and home guards for emergency preparedness and rescue operations.
The graduation ceremony also included tree plantation and oath-taking for the new firefighters, symbolizing growth, responsibility, and commitment to public safety. Dignitaries present at the event included the Deputy Chief Minister, ministers, senior officials of the Fire Services and Police Department, legislators, and family members of the trainees.
