Bhubaneswar, Odisha : The Odisha government has initiated the process for constructing a state-of-the-art Science City in Bhubaneswar, aimed at promoting scientific learning, innovation, and research. Science and Technology Minister Krushna Chandra Patra confirmed that necessary steps are already being taken by the Department of Science and Technology to realize the project.
As part of preparatory efforts, Minister Patra and senior officials are visiting Science Cities in other states to study their design, functionality, and best practices. Recently, during an official visit to Bihar, the Minister toured the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna and also held discussions with Bihar’s Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Sinha and Samrat Choudhary regarding the project.
The proposed Science City in Bhubaneswar will be built on 100 acres of land. It will feature :

Platforms for innovation and discovery
According to Minister Patra, the Science City will serve as a hub for scientific exploration, creativity, and education, with special focus on innovation-driven research and student engagement.
To ensure quality planning and execution, a high-level committee will be formed for the project. The state will also invite independent experts and officers from Bihar’s Science City to provide guidance and recommendations for Odisha’s upcoming facility.
“The Bhubaneswar Science City will be a milestone in our state’s journey towards promoting scientific temperament and inspiring the next generation of innovators,” Minister Patra emphasized.
