Bhubaneswar, Odisha : An Odisha Blood Donation Camp was organized at Raj Bhavan on Thursday, where Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati praised voluntary donors for their compassion and dedication to saving lives.
The camp, held at the New Abhishek Hall of Raj Bhavan, was jointly organized by Raj Bhavan and the Blood Bank of Capital Hospital. A total of 170 units of blood were collected during the drive. Students from various colleges, members of social organizations, and Raj Bhavan staff actively participated, showcasing a strong spirit of public service and community commitment.
Interacting with the donors, the Governor expressed deep appreciation for their humanitarian gesture. He said their contribution reflects selfless service and inspires society to embrace voluntary blood donation. Dr. Kambhampati also distributed certificates and T-shirts to encourage the participants and acknowledged their efforts in supporting healthcare needs.
The Governor described the compassion and dedication of blood donors as both “inspiring and reassuring”. He emphasized that such humanitarian initiatives highlight the strength of collective responsibility and should continue to receive strong public support.
The camp aimed to create greater awareness about voluntary blood donation, particularly among the youth. Organizers stressed that the growing involvement of young donors ensures a steady and reliable supply of blood for emergencies.
The initiative was coordinated by Dr. B.K. Meher from Raj Bhavan Dispensary and Dr. Debasish Mishra from the Capital Hospital Blood Bank. Both medical teams ensured smooth operations and proper medical care for all donors.
By combining official institutions, healthcare professionals, and enthusiastic youth, the Odisha Blood Donation Camp at Raj Bhavan set an example of community-driven healthcare support.
