Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday conducted a detailed review of the new Odisha Bhavan project in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. The CM emphasized that the new building should be a reflection of Odisha’s rich cultural and architectural heritage.
During the meeting at Lokseva Bhavan, the CM highlighted the incorporation of traditional Odia elements such as stonework, Sambalpuri Ikat patterns, and other cultural motifs. “The Bhavan should not only serve functional purposes but also showcase Odisha’s identity to the national capital,” he said.
The proposed G+6 building will span approximately 4,761 square meters and feature 45 well-equipped suites along with a modern conference hall, designed to host official, cultural, and social events. Officials were instructed to expedite construction to meet the increasing demand from Odisha residents, pilgrims, and patients visiting Delhi.
In addition to Delhi, the CM suggested enhancing facilities in Mumbai, Ayodhya, Hyderabad, and Surat, citing the presence of significant Odia populations and frequent visitors. Renovation and modernization of Kolkata’s Utkal Bhavan were also discussed to ensure comfort and convenience for Odias across India.
Senior officials present at the review included Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretaries Satyabrata Sahu and Shashwat Mishra, Finance Secretary Sanjeev Mishra, and PWD Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh.
The new Odisha Bhavan project is expected to become a landmark that blends modern functionality with Odisha’s traditional charm, strengthening the state’s presence in key cities across India.
