Jharsuguda , Odisha : Over three thousand Nepali youth are currently in Jharsuguda, waiting to participate in the interview for recruitment of 135 Gorkha sepoys in the 2nd Battalion of the Odisha State Armed Police (OSAP).
Nepal is currently experiencing unrest under the Gen Z’ movement. The youth in Jharsuguda expressed their concern over the ongoing violence in Nepal, calling it condemnable. They emphasized that the original aim of the movement was to eliminate corruption and establish good governance, not to incite violence. The movement initially focused on targeting government properties, ministers’ residences, and offices to curb corruption, but certain individuals over 45 years of age diverted it toward violent acts.
Hardik Rana, one of the young candidates waiting for the interview, stated that the youth had no intention to damage government property and that the violent acts were carried out by a few individuals, not representing the majority. Despite the violence, the youth remain hopeful for a positive future in Nepal.
Manoj Gurung, another candidate, praised the brave steps taken by Nepali youth for promoting good governance, corruption-free systems, and development in their country. He also paid deep tributes to those who lost their lives during the unrest. Similar movements in countries like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have also brought positive reforms, inspiring anti-corruption initiatives beyond Nepal.
The youth of Nepal have demonstrated that the power of collective effort and determination can bring meaningful change, even in the face of deep-rooted corruption.
The interviews for Gorkha sepoy recruitment in OSAP 2nd Battalion will be conducted in Jharsuguda on September 17, offering the young candidates an opportunity to serve with discipline and honor.
