Jharsuguda, Odisha : Death of Nepali youth who came to Jharsuguda for recruitment. He died before joining the recruitment process in Jharsuguda OSAP 2nd Battalion. The youth, identified as Govind Kumal from Baglung district of Nepal, suffered a fatal heart attack while practicing at the Reserve Police field ahead of the OSAP 2nd Battalion recruitment rally scheduled for September 17.
According to officials, Govind, hailing from Badigad area of Baglung district in Nepal, was preparing for the recruitment rally scheduled for September 17 in Jharsuguda Odisha. Early this morning, around 7 am, he was practicing running with fellow aspirants at the Reserve Police field when he suddenly experienced severe chest pain.
His companions and officers immediately rushed him to the OSAP Battalion Unit Hospital. Observing his worsening condition, the doctors advised that he be shifted without delay to the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital. Despite the swift transfer by ambulance, Govind was declared dead by the doctors upon arrival.
OSAP 2nd Battalion Commandant Prasad Tamang confirmed the death The body is currently kept at the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital.
The body of the young aspirant has been kept at the District Headquarters Hospital. Authorities have informed that a post-mortem will be conducted once Govind’s father arrives in Jharsuguda from Delhi.
The incident has also raised concerns over the intense physical stress aspirants undergo during police recruitment rallies, especially when coupled with underlying health conditions that often remain undetected. Officials, however, emphasized that all safety and medical protocols are in place during the recruitment process.
