Bhubaneswar : The tragic death of the Balanga minor girl, who sustained 75% burn injuries under mysterious circumstances, continues to raise more questions than answers. Even after two weeks of intensive investigation, police are yet to identify or arrest the accused. The case remains unresolved, leaving a cloud of mystery over one of the state’s most sensitive incidents in recent times.
The girl, who had been battling for her life for over 15 days at AIIMS Delhi, succumbed to her injuries on Saturday. She had reportedly suffered severe burns after being doused with a flammable substance on July 19.
Despite the involvement of the Crime Branch and local police, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Officials visited the crime scene and conducted extensive questioning, yet the breakthrough continues to elude investigators.
So far, more than 90 individuals have been interrogated, including over 30 suspects whose mobile phones were put under surveillance. A grocery store owner in Balanga was also questioned, and police even traveled to Delhi to record the victim’s dying declaration. However, the investigation has not yet led to any arrests.
The girl’s death has sparked public outrage and mourning across Odisha. While both the government and the medical team made significant efforts to save her, the lack of conclusive progress in the case has fueled widespread speculation.
