Bhubaneswar, Odisha : “The next decade belongs to Urban Development, and we must dedicate ourselves to this mission with dignity and responsibility,” said Smt. Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department. She was addressing engineers, MIS professionals, accountants, and team leads of ULBs and DUDAs participating in the orientation on the Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikas Yojana (MSBY).
Smt. Padhee highlighted that urban transformation is not limited to building infrastructure but is about creating inclusive, sustainable, and dignified cities. “Our present efforts will decide whether the next generation faces challenges or inherits a better world. Knowledge, not positions, gives true dignity,” she said, emphasizing the long-term impact of today’s work.
Encouraging participants to take active ownership, she added, “Each of us is an integral part of the system. Our duty is to ensure the system functions in the right direction. Together, let us create better cities and stronger urban futures.”
The Principal Secretary outlined that MSBY is a transformative initiative, aimed at strengthening the capacity of ULBs and DUDAs. The programme focuses on citizen-centric governance, efficient service delivery, and the adoption of innovation and technology-driven practices. She urged participants to embrace new ideas, foster accountability, and maintain high standards while implementing urban programmes.
The orientation session, held at the Conference Hall of SUDA, witnessed active participation and interactive discussions. Senior officials, including Director Municipal Administration Shri Arindam Dakua, Director SUDA Shri Rabindra Sahoo, and other top officers, were present to provide guidance and support.
Smt. Padhee’s address reinforced that the next decade is crucial for urban development, and through MSBY, Odisha aims to build smarter, resilient, and citizen-focused cities. Participants were inspired to contribute effectively, ensuring a future where urban growth is inclusive, sustainable, and empowering.
