Jharsuguda, Odisha: Badamal police arrested a youth from Baleswar after solving a mobile theft case in Jharsuguda through CCTV footage. The accused, Abhaya Kumar Nayak (21) from Basta area, confessed to stealing two mobile phones in what has been noted as a Mobile Theft in Jharsuguda case.
Sources said Nitesh Mandal, a delivery boy with Instacart Company, placed his shipment bag at the RS Mobile Store near Vedanta Gate last Saturday. He spoke briefly with the shop owner before returning to the company’s Badamal office. When he opened the bag, he discovered two mobile phones missing, which contributed to the incidents of Mobile Theft in Jharsuguda.
Nitesh immediately returned to RS Mobile Store and checked the CCTV footage. The video showed Abhaya stealing the phones and fleeing. With this evidence of Mobile Theft in Jharsuguda, Nitesh filed a complaint at Badamal police station.
Police launched a quick investigation and traced Abhaya to Baleswar. They arrested him and recovered the stolen mobiles. Officers later took him to court for further proceedings related to Mobile Robbery in Jharsuguda.
The incident has sparked public concern about increasing small thefts in Jharsuguda’s busy commercial zones. Many residents praised the police for their prompt action and use of surveillance cameras to track the culprit.
