AIIMS Bhubaneswar Staff Accused of Harassing Female Attendant

Bhubaneswar: A serious allegation of misconduct has emerged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, where a female attendant has accused a nursing staff member of inappropriate behavior. The accused, identified as Nanu Ram Choudhury, is alleged to have misbehaved with the young woman, who works as a contractual attendant at the hospital.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred late last night during the victim’s duty hours. She claimed that the accused nursing staff lured her into a doctor’s chamber and locked the door from inside, where he reportedly behaved inappropriately. Fearing for her safety, the woman managed to escape and later approached the Khandagiri police station with a written complaint.

Despite the formal complaint, no action has reportedly been taken by the police so far, leading to widespread outrage among the hospital’s contractual employees. Expressing dissatisfaction over police inaction, the workers’ union staged a sit-in protest in front of the AIIMS main gate, demanding the immediate arrest of the accused and justice for the victim.

As a mark of protest, all work in the hospital—except for emergency services—has been halted. The protesting employees have vowed to continue their demonstration until the victim receives justice and appropriate action is taken by both the hospital administration and the police authorities.
