New Delhi: Delhi Police arrested Himanshu (23), a man wanted for robbing a delivery boy, after a brief shootout near Badarpur Flyover Park. The man wanted for robbing a delivery boy in Delhi was apprehendedthrough the efforts of the Special Task Force (STF) of South-East District and Pul Prahladpur Police coordinated swiftly to catch the armed criminal.
During the encounter on Saturday night, Himanshu suffered a bullet injury in his right leg. Consequently, officers immediately rushed him to Safdarjung Hospital, where they secured him under police custody.
Police seized a semi-automatic pistol (.32 bore), two live cartridges, and four empty cartridges two fired by the suspect and two by the police. In addition, authorities recovered key evidence from the scene.
Himanshu had robbed a Domino’s delivery boy on October 22 along with his accomplice, Kaushal. The robbery went viral on social media, therefore prompting urgent action by authorities.
“Our team acted swiftly and bravely, arresting a desperate armed criminal within 72 hours,” said Dr. Hemant Tiwari, DCP South-East District. Furthermore, he praised the professionalism of the officers during the encounter.
Investigators revealed that Himanshu is a habitual offender with at least three prior cases involving kidnapping, robbery, and snatching. After his release from jail in June, police noticed he had resumed criminal activities in South Delhi.
Authorities registered a case at Badarpur Police Station and launched a manhunt for his accomplice, Kaushal, who remains at large. Meanwhile, local residents and social media users praised the operation, highlighting the effectiveness of coordinated policing between special teams and district units.
Overall, this incident demonstrates the quick response and efficiency of Delhi Police in curbing street crimes and protecting public safety.
