Mayurbhanj, Odisha: In a bizarre and spine-chilling incident, a man in Baripada, Mayurbhanj district, spent the entire night unknowingly sharing his bed with a venomous cobra inside his mosquito net.
According to locals, the man slept soundly through the night, unaware that the deadly snake had quietly coiled itself in a corner of his bed. Miraculously, the cobra did not attack.
The shock came in the morning when he woke up and spotted the eight-foot-long reptile beside him. Panic gripped the family, who immediately contacted the Snake Helpline. A trained rescuer soon arrived, carefully removed the snake, and released it safely into a nearby forest.
Continuous rains in the region have been driving snakes and other reptiles into human settlements in search of dry shelter. Experts warn residents in rural areas to remain alert, especially during monsoon.
Fortunately, no harm was caused, and the family heaved a sigh of relief. The incident, however, serves as a strong reminder of the need for caution during the rainy season.
