Malkanagiri, Odisha : A tragic accident in Malkangiri district claimed the lives of four family members from Tamil Nadu when their car was swept away by floodwaters amid heavy rains near the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border in Bastar region.
The family, consisting of a husband, wife, and two daughters, had visited the Danteshwari Temple in Dantewada district the previous day. While returning on National Highway 30 near Darbha, their Swift Dzire car was carried away by a strong water current. The driver managed to survive, but the remaining four passengers drowned.
Police confirmed that all four bodies were recovered and taken to Dimrapal. Relatives are expected to reach the site for identification and further arrangements. Authorities have urged travelers to exercise caution on flood-affected roads during the monsoon.
This incident highlights the dangers of heavy rainfall and flash floods in Odisha during the monsoon season, stressing the importance of road safety and timely disaster response.
