New Delhi: The counting for the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students’ Union elections is underway, with the Left Alliance leading on three of the four top posts, while the ABVP maintains a narrow edge on one seat.
The Left Alliance leads JNU Student Union elections after years of division, marking a strong comeback as SFI, AISA, and DSF reunited to contest together. According to the latest trends, the Left panel is ahead in the President, Vice-President, and Joint Secretary categories, while the ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) is leading in the General Secretary race.
For the presidential post, Aditi Mishra from the Left is in front, followed by Zhakuut Gopika Babu leading for Vice-President, and Danish Ali for Joint Secretary. ABVP’s Rajeshwar Kant Dubey continues to hold a slight lead for General Secretary.
The election, held on November 4, saw voting across eight polling centres in two shifts, with a 67% voter turnout out of 9,043 registered students, slightly lower than last year. The ABVP also performed well in faculty council results across several schools.
This year’s campaign was dynamic, with students debating issues such as research fellowships, hostel allocation, Wi-Fi expansion, and academic reforms. The contest reflected both national and campus-level politics, making it one of the most closely watched JNUSU elections in recent years.
As counting continues, the Left Alliance leads JNU Student Union elections and remains on course to reclaim key positions. Official results are expected later today, with live updates available on the JNU Election Committee’s website.
