Kolabira/Jharsuguda, Odisha : A vibrant block-level Fishery and Animal Resources Fair was held in Kolabira on Tuesday. It was celebrated with great enthusiasm and community participation. The event brought together farmers, self-help groups, and experts to explore new opportunities in aquaculture and livestock development.
MLA Tankadhar Tripathy attended the fair as the chief guest. He emphasized the importance of modern fish farming and animal resource development for strengthening the rural economy. He highlighted various government schemes aimed at improving productivity and sustainability in the fishery and livestock sectors. Tripathi also underlined the role of resource conservation, enhanced production, and commercial utilization in driving rural growth and self-reliance.
The fair witnessed active participation from Jharsuguda CDVO Dayasagar Dhuria. Several senior officials from the Fishery and Animal Resources Department also joined. Numerous self-help groups and local farmers shared their experiences and learned about government initiatives supporting the industry.
Deputy Director Gyan Ranjan Samal and scientist Sameer Ranjan Dash graced the event as distinguished guests. They shared insights on the successful implementation of fish farming projects. They also discussed the potential for expanding scientific aquaculture practices across the district.
In his keynote address, Dr. Bhishma Chandra Naik focused on modern techniques in cattle, poultry, and goat farming. He encouraged farmers to adopt innovative methods and scientific approaches to increase yields and ensure profitability.
Under the supervision of District Veterinary Officer Dayasagar Dhuria, the fair ran seamlessly. The cooperation of Dr. Bhagabati Prasad Dash, Dr. Pradeep Choudhury, and other departmental officials was crucial. Their collective effort made the Kolabira Fair not just informative but inspirational. It motivated local farmers to adopt modern animal husbandry and fishery practices for a sustainable future.
