Bhubaneswar, Odisha : Odisha Vigilance unearthed assets worth several crores linked to Sri Kishore Kumar Sahani, Senior Assistant at City Hospital, Cuttack, office of the CDMO. Sahani is accused of misappropriating government funds exceeding Rs.1.24 crore during his tenure.
Today, simultaneous searches were conducted at five locations associated with Sahani and his family. These included his residential triple-storeyed building at Jobra Nuasahi, another building and poultry farm at Palasia, Choudwar, his in-law’s residence at Deula Sahi, paternal home at Uttarakula, and his office room at CDMO Cuttack.
The Vigilance team seized a wide array of movable and immovable assets, including:
- Triple-storeyed building measuring 2,500 sq. ft. at Jobra Nuasahi
- Building and poultry farm spanning 2.5 acres at Palasia/Choudwar
- 19 high-value plots, 18 in Cuttack town and 1 in Jatni, Khordha
- Cash of Rs.3,30,800/-
- Gold ornaments weighing 135 grams
- Bank and postal deposits exceeding Rs.55.48 lakh
- 1 Hyundai Santro car and 3 two-wheelers
- Household articles valued at Rs.10.57 lakh
The Vigilance Technical Wing is currently assessing the valuation of properties, plots, and the poultry farm. Officers are also examining Sahani to ascertain the sources of these assets. Further discoveries are expected, which may raise the overall valuation significantly.
Sahani entered government service in 1997 as a Junior Assistant under the rehabilitation scheme. He served at UGPHC, Mahanga, then MO, LEU, Banki, before joining City Hospital, Cuttack in 2001. Promoted to Senior Assistant in 2016, he has worked at City Hospital for more than two decades, handling substantial government funds.
Allegations against him include non-deposit of government money, fraudulent withdrawals, and transferring funds to personal accounts. The investigation is being carried out by Odisha Vigilance teams comprising nine DSPs, ten Inspectors, seven ASIs, and other staff, operating under search warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.
Officials stated that the operation reflects the state government’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and curbing corruption in public service.
