Keonjhar, Odisha : A shocking road accident in Odisha’s Keonjhar district has left two young students critically injured after a speeding Bolero ran over them in Bolani Township under the jurisdiction of Balani police station. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, sending shockwaves through the local community.
According to reports, the victims have been identified as Ayush Lugun and Rashika Purttee, both students of Class 3 at a government school in Bolani Township. The children were returning home after school on Thursday when a Bolero, coming at high speed from the opposite direction, hit them near the Birsa Munda Club.
Local residents immediately rushed the injured children to the SAIL Bolani hospital for treatment. Later, both were shifted to the Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital due to their critical condition.
Following the accident, tensions flared in the township as locals demanded the immediate arrest of the Bolero driver. Police teams led by Balani police station have launched an investigation, examining CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts. However, as of now, no trace of the vehicle or its driver has been confirmed.
The heart-wrenching visuals of the accident have sparked outrage, with residents urging strict action and highlighting the urgent need for better traffic regulation in mining township areas.
