Talcher, Odisha :The Kankali Road in Talcher, spanning from Arjun Katta Pokhari through Girigiria Sahi, Kakudi, Hariharpur, Kankali, and Dharmapur to Samal, has been under construction for nearly a year. Despite the tender being issued and work commencing under the PWD, the contractor has laid only loose gravel, leaving the road unfinished, hazardous, and unsafe for daily commuters.
Due to the loose gravel, large vehicles struggle to pass. Smaller two-wheelers often get stuck, causing accidents and balance issues. Daily commuters, including villagers walking or riding bikes, face extreme difficulties. Moreover, dust from the road spreads into homes. This creates unhealthy living conditions and discomfort for residents.
Locals say that despite repeated promises, the contractor has failed to complete the work. They accuse possible delays due to self-interest or negligence. They demand urgent investigation and immediate action from the administration to ensure road safety and proper construction.
The road is a vital lifeline for the local population, used by hundreds daily for commuting and transport. Villagers highlight that the dust, combined with uneven gravel, makes travel extremely difficult and hazardous. They also warn that continued neglect could lead to serious accidents, especially for two-wheeler riders and pedestrians.
Residents have expressed their frustration to the media. They stress that the poor condition of Kankali Road in Talcher disrupts daily life and affects overall safety. They urge authorities to take immediate corrective measures, complete the construction, and ensure smooth, safe travel for everyone in the region.
With proper attention and timely action, locals hope that this crucial road will soon become safe, dust-free, and fully operational. This would end the long-standing problems faced by the community.
