Mumbai : Bollywood actress Kajol, currently seen in the second season of the streaming show The Trial, is sharing warm wishes on Mahalaya.
On Sunday, she posted a monochromatic video on Instagram. In the clip, she wears a silk saree, turns to face the camera, and then turns back again.
In her caption, she wrote, “Wishing everyone a very happy Mahalaya… saree season is back.”
Mahalaya marks the beginning of Devi Paksha and the countdown to Durga Puja. Celebrated seven days before Durga Puja, it ends Pitru Paksha, a period for paying homage to ancestors. It also welcomes Goddess Durga to Earth.
Traditionally, people perform tarpan during Mahalaya, offering prayers to forefathers on riverbanks. Beyond rituals, Mahalaya blends devotion, art, and community. It creates anticipation, heralding Durga’s arrival as the mother goddess who restores power, balance, and divine protection.
Meanwhile, Kajol has received positive responses for her performance in The Trial Season 2. She portrays Noyonika Sengupta, a lawyer. Earlier, she revealed the secret behind her pitch-perfect portrayals across a career spanning over three decades.
Kajol believes that good directors and great co-actors make her work easier and more polished. Speaking to IANS during promotions, she said, “The trick is to find a good director, which I did. To get great co-stars as well, which I did. And, most importantly, it’s about seeing your character arc. A person is always a whole person with their flaws.”
The Trial – Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha adapts the original U.S. series The Good Wife, produced by CBS Studios with Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions. Paramount Global Content Distribution licensed the format rights.
