New Delhi : J&K tourism revival is gradually gaining momentum months after terrorists targeted Pahalgam, frightening tourists and escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Visitors are returning to Kashmir’s scenic locations as authorities focus on restoring normalcy and boosting local confidence with modern infrastructure initiatives and enhanced security measures.
After India responded to the Pahalgam terror attack, the Centre and J&K administration actively assisted families affected, displaced, and traumatized by cross-border shelling during ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The administration is building free homes for families impacted by Pakistani shelling, prioritizing hope and humanitarian action. The High-range Rural Development Society (HRDS India) signed a landmark MoU with J&K divisional commissioners to construct 1,500 smart three-bedroom houses across the Union Territory. These homes will serve families affected by militancy, floods, and Operation Sindoor, offering safety, comfort, and sustainability while restoring dignity.
Officials inaugurated all-weather train connectivity between Srinagar and the mainland via the Chenab bridge, marking a historic milestone. This direct rail link will boost tourism, trade, and overall economic development in the Valley, providing easier access for both domestic and international visitors.
Authorities also organized sporting events, including a cricket match in Pahalgam, to encourage community bonding, promote tourism, and celebrate resilience among local residents.
Following the April 22 attacks, officials temporarily closed 48 tourist destinations. More than a dozen reopened with enhanced security, and authorities plan to gradually reopen additional locations to attract more visitors.
J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha emphasized that phased reopening of tourism hotspots will rebuild public confidence, increase tourist inflow, and support the local economy, while ensuring strict safety protocols are followed.
Today, J&K stands at the cusp of transformation. Infrastructure initiatives, community support programs, security measures, and focused promotional campaigns collectively drive the region’s J&K tourism revival. These efforts underscore the administration’s commitment to peace, stability, sustainable economic growth, and a safe environment for tourists and residents alike.
