Jharsuguda, Odisha: Cyber threats are no longer just online; they are a real-world challenge. To address this, Jharsuguda has launched the District-Level Cyber Security Awareness Campaign 2025. This cyber security awareness campaign is aimed at protecting citizens from the growing menace of cybercrime. The event was chaired by Jharsuguda SP Guadala Raghavendra Reddy. It also saw active participation from District Magistrate Kunal Motiram Chavan, who highlighted what cybercrime really means and how people can stay safe online.

Chavan urged residents: “Awareness and caution are our strongest weapons against cybercrime.” Indeed, with India ranking second globally in internet usage, our daily lives now heavily rely on digital tools. This cyber security awareness campaign underscores that with increased dependence comes higher risk. Online scams, financial fraud, fake job offers, and cyber harassment have become all too common. Recognizing the urgency, the central and state governments are working to strengthen cyber police and boost public awareness. They aim to create a secure digital ecosystem.

The month-long campaign promises practical guidance for all. It includes insight on fake recruitment scams, fraudulent bank accounts and SIM sales, online investment fraud, digital payment safety, protection against online sexual exploitation, data security, and smart use of UPI and OTPs. In addition, people of all ages including older adults, students, professionals, and everyday smartphone users will receive tips to protect themselves from scams and financial losses as part of the cyber security awareness campaign.
The initiative goes beyond workshops and lectures. For example, residents will engage through interactive activities like cyber safety leaflets, video demonstrations, debates, drawing competitions, nukkad plays, street dramas, awareness chariot parades, padayatras, and cycling rallies—all designed to make learning about cyber safety fun and memorable.
Meanwhile, the event at MCL Auditorium featured guidance from OSAP Commandant Sriprasad Tamang, Additional SP Madhusikta Mishra, and Addl SP James Samad. It also included Jharsuguda SDPO Uma Shankar Singh, and Brajrajnagar SDPO Cintamani Pradhan. Senior officers, students, volunteers, and media personnel attended. This is part of a broader cyber security awareness campaign. And SDPO Uma Shankar Singh delivered the vote of thanks.
As a result, this campaign is more than awareness it’s a movement. It aims to empower citizens, build a cyber-savvy community, and keep Jharsuguda safe in the digital age.
