Jharsuguda, Odisha : Farmers in Jharsuguda district face growing challenges as several key posts in veterinary hospitals stay vacant for years. The government promotes livestock farming to boost rural income and strengthen the local economy, offering loans to farmers through banks. However, the shortage of veterinary professionals forces farmers to struggle with the care of their cattle and buffaloes.
Multiple Jharsuguda veterinary vacancies including posts for doctors, inspectors, surgeons, office staff, and attendants remain unfilled in Kolabira, Lakhanpur, Belpahar, Brajrajnagar, and Bagdihi. Due to this, farmers find it difficult to get timely medical help for their animals.
When diseases spread among cattle, the animal husbandry department worries about controlling the situation because of limited manpower. Farmers have repeatedly complained to the district administration, yet officials continue to ignore their appeals.
The long-pending Jharsuguda veterinary vacancies directly affect animal health services and put the livelihoods of hundreds of rural families at risk. Without quick recruitment and action, this crisis will grow deeper and damage the rural economy that depends heavily on livestock.
