Jharsuguda, Odisha : A school bus caught fire unexpectedly while in motion near Brundaban Colony, Jharsuguda, on Saturday. Fortunately, no passengers were on board, preventing what could have been a serious disaster.
The incident occurred when the driver of a “Gudia Travels” school bus was taking the vehicle near the owner’s residence, as it was a school holiday. Suddenly, flames broke out—suspected to have been triggered by a battery short circuit.
On noticing the fire, the driver quickly jumped out to save his life. Within moments, the bus was engulfed in intense flames. Firefighters rushed to the scene and managed to douse the blaze, but the vehicle was completely gutted.
Authorities suspect a short circuit in the bus’s battery system sparked the fire. The quick evacuation and absence of children on board spared the area a potential tragedy.
