Jharsuguda, Odisha : The Jharsuguda Municipal Office organized a grand celebration today to mark National Self-Governance Day. The event was held in front of the municipal office, highlighting the city’s commitment to participatory governance and urban development.
MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, the chief guest, addressed the gathering and promised to strive towards transforming Jharsuguda into a model city in Odisha. He emphasized that such initiatives require the cooperation and consensus of all municipal officers and elected representatives.
The event was attended by Chairman Rani Hati, who hoisted the national flag, followed by the singing of the national anthem. Distinguished guests present included Municipal Commissioner Manas Ranjan Mallik, Deputy Chairperson Benu Gopal Panigrahi, and council members Debabrata Pandey and Bandana Mundra, among several other officials.
Cultural programs showcasing the city’s heritage were held alongside the official ceremony. The celebrations concluded with the distribution of sweets to municipal employees and the provision of new uniforms to the staff, symbolizing the spirit of service and community welfare.
This annual observance reinforces the importance of local self-governance in fostering civic responsibility and strengthening democracy at the grassroots level in Jharsuguda.
