Jharsuguda, Odisha : Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy met Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to propose the construction of a ring road along the banks of the Ib River, connecting the Ib River bridge at Bhasma in Sundargarh to the Ib River bridge at Kherual in Jharsuguda.
In a formal letter to the CM, Tripathy highlighted that the project would strengthen regional connectivity, protect residential areas and agricultural lands from floods, and act as a catalyst for economic growth, employment generation, and sustainable urban development across two districts.
The MLA raised concerns over the gradual erosion of the Ib River banks, which is already damaging vast stretches of farmland. He also pointed out that the recent floods submerged multiple acres of cropland, causing significant losses to farmers.
Furthermore, heavy vehicular movement on the Biju Expressway is leading to increasing traffic congestion. Tripathy emphasized that the proposed ring road could alleviate traffic woes while safeguarding farmland from further damage.
If implemented, the project is expected to transform the region’s infrastructure landscape, offering long-term resilience and economic upliftment for both Jharsuguda and Sundargarh districts.
