Jharsuguda: Over the past few days, the police have become a nightmare for criminals in the region. From nabbing illegal liquor traders to raiding gambling dens, the police have intensified their crackdown on unlawful activities. They have also seized illegal firearms, arrested accused individuals, and busted brown sugar rackets. Criminals are now sleepless and fearful of the law.
In a major success under this ongoing crackdown, Rengali Police in Jharsuguda district foiled a large-scale dacoity attempt and arrested five accused involved in the plan. Late last night, around 2 a.m., the police received a tip-off. A group of men were preparing for a dacoity near Kuhakunda Mahima Ashram under Rengali Police limits. Acting swiftly on the information, a team reached the spot and apprehended the five suspects before they could execute their plan.
The police seized five mobile phones, a knife, a chopper, a screwdriver, six cutting blades, a tangia (axe), and a Bolero vehicle from their possession. The arrested individuals have been identified as Janardhan Bhoi (44) of Machida area, Subodh Raut (51) of Kandadihi area, Ashwini Khamari (38), Bijay Bhoyanar (26), and Krishna Chandra Bhoi. All are from the Rengali area. The accused have been forwarded to court following their arrest, police confirmed.
